Air and ground forces have joined firefighters in the area of Orthouni, Crete, in an effort to contain a forest fire that is ravaging the area, due to constant rekindlings.

Crete regional governor Nikos Barbarousis told NET radio station that the wild fire in Meskla had been contained. However, a mountainous village was evacuated for precautionary reason.

The wild fire in Lousakies has also been brought under control, while another in the area of Analoukas, eastern Crete, has also been contained.
