Man douses seven with acid in cafe tiff
A 33-year-old Albanian national is to face a prosecutor today after allegedly dousing seven foreigners with acid following an argument over farming wages in a cafe in Ierapetra, southeastern Crete.
The Albanian, who joined a debate with six Bulgarians and a Romanian regarding the income of farm workers in the region on Friday night, allegedly stormed out of the cafe after the discussion turned into an argument and returned with a bottle of acid.
According to police, the 33-year-old then doused all seven of his interlocutors with the acid, leaving four with serious burns.
The four were taken to hospital in Iraklion, while the other three were given first aid treatment at a local hospital. It was unclear what kind of acid was used in the alleged attack
