ATHENS (Reuters) – A nine-year-old British boy has died in hospital in Crete after a road accident which killed another child earlier this week, police say.
Greek police identified the child as Nikhil Ponja, hospitalised in a critical state after a car careered into him and other tourists on Wednesday evening.
"He died of his injuries this morning," a duty officer told Reuters on Friday. He could not give details of the boy’s home town.
Ponja and second victim Amar Phull, 10, were hit by an oncoming car after getting off a tourist bus close to the Cretan resort of Malia.
Greek police have launched an inquiry into the accident and are questioning two local drivers.
