Laut Meldungen verschiedener englischsprachiger Seiten hat die griech. Regierung die Ausschreibung für den neuen Flughafen in Kastelli auf den Markt gebracht:
New $1.4bn Crete airport goes out to tender

The Greek Government is to offer a 45% stake and a 35-year contract in a tender for the construction and management of a new E.1bn ($1.4bn) airport at Kastelli, which will replace the existing facility at Heraklion in Crete when it opens in 2015.
According to Environment Minister George Souflias, the government will retain a 55% share in a new operating company with the winning tenderer and contribute E.220m ($315.9m) towards the construction costs of the new facility.
The government says that the new airport will have a capacity to handle between 5.5m and 10m passengers a year and is hopeful of opening the new facility by 2015.
Investors are being asked to submit their bids for the project by February 9, 2010 and the government said that it expects to appoint the winning bid in the first half of next year
